To begin, my company is a Non-Profit Corporation that was established by my father back in 1968, which is now over 40 years of experience in the mortuary and trust fund field.

The Guardian of Funds Foundation began as a consequence of people walking in and asking if they could pre-plan their own funerals. Mr. Wilhelm then set up The Guardian of Funds Foundation so that people could rest easy knowing their money was safe, protected, and accruing so that their loved ones would not be saddled with a huge funeral cost. After Mr. Wilhelm retired, Mr. Wilhelm's grandson - with experience garnered from one of the nation's largest corporate funeral empires, saw what was going on on the inside and how hurtful it is to the average American family.
He witnessed their heavy-handed emphasis on sales tactics, at times pushing their salespeople to call families literally a day after the death of a loved one to push for additional sales or to upgrade existing pre-arrangements; the corporation's pushing of "funeral plans" where families pay for services they're not likely to ever use or that they simply don't want. Moreover, completely unconscionable was the industry's pushing of insurance on the public, so that a $6000 funeral (the national average today) if paid for over time, would cost upwards of $9000 due to finance charges!!! Mr. Wilhelm's son and grandson saw how pre-arrangements could be done better, and are now leading a crusade for common sense for the public and against the funeral industry and its constant excesses.
The Guardian of Funds Foundation could be called the funeral industry's worst nightmare. We're working hard to live up to that reputation. |
